Delphia III is a Delphia 40.2 type vessel manufactured by the Polish shipyard Delphia Yachts from Olecko. It is the newest vessel in the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association fleet.
Due to its seaworthiness and dimensions, the ship is perfectly suited for training and practice cruises on the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It is an optimal choice for the first independent cruises for yacht skippers who can build their command experience in safe conditions.
History and sailing achievements
Before joining the scouting fleet, this unit made its mark in the history of Polish sailing. In 2012, journalist Kuba Strzyczkowski successfully sailed it alone across the Atlantic Ocean. Just a year later, the same skipper led the vessel in the Polonez Cup – famous Baltic races for single-handed sailors. The yacht won third place in them, yielding at the finish line only to strictly professional racing units.
Raising the scouting flag
The official ceremony of raising the ZHP flag on the Delphia III yacht took place on August 8, 2018, during the ZHP Centenary Jamboree. The event took place at the jamboree marina on Wyspa Sobieszewska in Gdańsk. The ceremony was accompanied by an Open Day of the vessel and activities for participants of the „Źródło” program module. During the jamboree, short introductory cruises on the waters of the Vistula River and the Gulf of Gdańsk were also organized.
Szacunek do symboli pokładowych i morskich zwyczajów buduje silną wspólnotę. Ceremoniał pomaga kształtować poczucie odpowiedzialności, przypominając jednocześnie o wieloletnim dziedzictwie polskiego żeglarstwa. To fundament wychowania wodnego, na którym opiera się każda wyprawa.
Patron naszej jednostki – słynny rycerz z Garbowa – zapisał się na kartach historii jako uosobienie odwagi i niezłomności. Żeglując pod harcerską banderą, trzeba czasem dowieść, że jest się godnym tego imienia. Największy sprawdzian charakterów miał miejsce w 1984 roku podczas The Tall Ships Races.
